DigitalFoto Iron-311QD Magic Arm with Damping System Introduced-by CINED Johnnie Behiri

At IBC 2025, DigitalFoto has unveiled the Iron-311QD magic arm, featuring a damping system that allows operators to adjust positioning without fully unlocking the mechanism. On the show floor, we talked to Malcolm
Modele, a Steadicam operator, cinematographer, actor, and producer with 13 years of industry experience. Let’s take a closer look
Now the company is unveiling a new magic arm with a damping system. For those who are not aware of what magic arms are, let me summarize by writing that they are articulating mounting solutions commonly used in video production to position monitors, lights, and accessories with precise control. The adjustable joints allow operators to mount equipment at virtually any angle while maintaining secure positioning during shoots.

Key features: Iron-311QD

The Iron-311QD supports 2.5kg vertically and 5kg horizontally. The damping system addresses a common workflow issue where operators must completely unlock standard magic arms to make adjustments, creating a risk of equipment drops and limiting positioning precision to teeth spacing intervals.

Technical specifications

The 11-inch arm combines steel and aluminum construction – steel components for strength in critical areas, with an aluminum alloy body to reduce weight. The arm features an F22 head with retractable locking pins for 90-degree rotation capability.
Mounting options include:
  • Four 3/8-inch and 1/4-inch attachment points
  • One on each side of the arm
  • Retractable pins for compatibility with cages lacking locking pin holes
The arm includes cable management clips on both sides for monitor cables and other connections.

Availability and pricing

The Iron-311QD is available now through DigitalFoto’s website and at B&H. The current pricing until September end is $99, though regional pricing may vary by retailer.
