DigitalFoto ARES-SE Gimbal Stabilizer Unveiled – Distributes Weight Across Both Hands

At IBC 2025, DigitalFoto introduced the
ARES-SE, a gimbal accessory designed to reduce operator fatigue and provide additional x-axis stabilization for handheld gimbal work. Let’s take a closer look

DigitalFoto specializes in studio lights, photography equipment, video lighting, and cinema accessories, offering cost-effective solutions for content creators and professionals.

At the show, we talked to Malcolm Modele, who explained that the ARES-SE attaches to compatible gimbals and provides up to 30% reduction in x-axis vibration while distributing weight across both hands rather than concentrating it in a single grip point. According to Malcolm, the system addresses operator endurance issues common with extended handheld gimbal operation. The accessory features internal springs with dual adjustment dials that allow operators to balance the system based on their camera and lens combination. Proper adjustment ensures both support arms remain level, providing a full range of movement above and below the neutral position.

Compatibility and load capacity

While designed as a universal accessory, the ARES-SE offers enhanced integration with DJI RS3 and RS4 gimbals through their data port connections. The system supports payloads ranging from 1.8kg to 5kg. For heavier camera configurations, the handle assemblies can be detached and mounted directly to NATO rails on the gimbal sides to further distribute weight and lower the center of gravity.

Both handles feature adjustable angles, allowing operators to modify their grip position for different shooting scenarios. Each handle includes a quarter-inch threaded mounting point for attaching monitors, wireless transmission systems, or other accessories. The angle adjustment mechanism enables low-mode operation by tilting the handles forward, providing greater flexibility for various shooting angles while maintaining the stabilization benefits.
